What Madonna, Margaret Thatcher and Keith Richards share.
Description
Cartier has always designed form watches. The daring (or crazy?) challenge of linking a very square case with rounded edges and slender links could only be taken up by the Maison. The challenge was largely won and has been declined in solid gold, gold and steel, steel, paved, large size, small size...
This is perhaps the easiest version to wear: a small all-steel size. The dial is also the purest, like the first Panthère to be sold, without a date window. This small version is definitely feminine (compared to the classic size that we see on both women's and men's wrists), but even more pleasant to wear than its big sister (is that possible?).
How to wear it?
Watches with metal straps are and will always remain sporty to the eye.
The strength of the Panthère lies in its clean and rounded lines that reduce the purely sporty impression. The fine and articulated mesh bracelet also plays a role in making this Panthère ultimately elegant. With this all-steel model, you will feel like you are wearing a bracelet, an extremely pleasant watch that you will almost forget about.
Françoise wears it very casually, like an everyday watch, and she might prefer more dressy watches, on leather straps, for the evening. Although... it's a watch that fits in anywhere!
Why did Françoise choose it?
If Françoise chose it, she is not the only one! We have seen it (and we see it again) on the wrists of many actresses, musicians, politicians. If we needed a Cartier for every day, easy to match with an outfit, a slightly sporty look, Françoise would perhaps turn to a Panthère. The metal bracelet (whatever it may be) offers a guarantee of unrivaled resistance and comfort. This small steel version remains the most discreet of its sisters.
History
The Panthère watch was launched in the festive spirit of the 1980s, when Michèle Kaouni was the Director of Creation at the Maison Cartier. It takes its name from the bracelet: both supple and streamlined, it evokes the way the feline moves, with all its roundness, elegance, and sensuality. At Cartier, the evocation of the panther through its coat is part of its identity. The spotted pattern first appeared on another ladies' wristwatch in 1914, in onyx and diamonds.
From its release, it was adopted by a large and eclectic crowd: Madonna, Keith Richards, Margaret Thatcher. Why not you?
