A creamy twist on the iconic Tank !
Description
Taking inspiration from its elder sibling, the Tank Must breaks away in two radical ways. Firstly, it uses gold-plating instead of solid gold, which significantly reduces the cost! And of course, the dial! Departing from the traditional combo of Roman numerals on a matte white dial, a Tank Must always offers incredible dials. Some are lacquered, some with Arabic numerals, or some, like this one, more classic: Cartier Roman numerals on a cream background.
What made the Tank successful remains unchanged, especially its size and its confort on the wrist! The medium size is perfect for a feminine wrist: it sits beautifully on the wrist, to the point where Françoise forgets she is even wearing a watch !
This particular piece belongs to one of the first generations of the Tank Must, with a mechanical movement, paying tribute to Cartier's horological tradition!
Why did Françoise choose it ?
Big, medium, small, solid gold, gold-plated, classic dial, colorful lacquered dial, on a plain or colorful leather strap... It doesn't matter, Françoise loves Tanks, every Tank! While she particularly appreciates the colorful lacquered dials, she immediately fell in love with this one, which brings together the best of both worlds: smaller prices, with the classic perfection of Cartier's Roman numeral index dial. The cream background is also captivating, ranging from off-white to pale yellow depending on the light.
Although some might find it more complicated for daily wear, Françoise enjoys the poetry of winding her watch every morning. It's a gesture that takes just a few seconds but fosters a unique physical connection with her watch. Plus, it helps her realize when she has been so absent-minded that she forgot to wind it!
History
The first Tank, known as Normale, imagined in 1917, gave way, in 1922, to the Tank Louis Cartier, whose design remains unchanged. Through its Must line, Cartier intends to revisit the codes of luxury by offering more accessible pieces, like Van Cleef & Arpels and its Boutique . It was not until 1976 that the Tank Must was presented, as the first gold plated watch for La Maison, then available in a wide variety of dials. It's a beautiful and a bold nod to its older sister : the quieter Tank Louis.
