Description
Hermès has always offered models linking watchmaking savoir-faire and the art of saddlery. Two worlds that come together in this Sellier watch. The stitching appears on the bezel but also in the center of the dial with the steel “saddle nail”. A round case that appears quite simple but which in reality is embellished with several details contributing to the identity of the watch: sporty-looking Arabic numerals, a date at 3 o'clock, discreet indexes and hands whose center is painted.
Made of steel, it is an everyday watch, comfortable and practical thanks to its quartz movement.
Why did Françoise choose it?
Like the Maison Hermès, it embodies “French elegance”. Françoise likes to highlight this House with such a rich history. Everyone knows: Hermès is a benchmark for luxury and savoir-faire. The watch collection is no exception.
The Sellier is a model that is sometimes forgotten and that Françoise wishes to bring back to the fore. Precisely because it is not the Hermès watch that you will see on everyone's wrists.
A watch presented on a classic Hermès strap (with its buckle) but which Françoise advises you to try with a brightly colored strap to enrich the dial.
History
The Maison Hermès was born in 1857 but it was not until 1912 that the first watch was designed in the workshops of Emile Hermès. A watch given to his 9 years old daughter which already combined leather with the case.
The 80s were an opportunity for Maison Hermès to offer different models. Thus, after the Clipper - which evokes the open sea - and the Rallye - whose attachments suggest the horse's bit -, it was then the Sellier model to see the light of day in 1987 on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the House.
