Let yourself be carried away by the subtlety of onyx
Description
Piaget's reputation in watchmaking is well established. Referred to as the “jeweler of watchmaking”, Piaget embodies creativity and reliability. A long case, neither rectangular nor oval, leaving plenty of room for the onyx dial. The latter, perhaps the simplest and most profound, is essential. From a distance, it is "only a black dial", and it is as we get closer that we observe the full density of the onyx. This inky black contrasts in a manner as clear (almost surgical!) as it is fascinating with the yellow gold case. A leap back to the 70s with this watch, whose yellow gold pin buckle and leather strap are original, signed Piaget.
How to wear it?
Françoise adores Piaget, even if she admits that the extravagance of certain of the House's creations is not very compatible with everyday life. But for all that, you should not be intimidated by the Piaget signature, since the brand has also been able to create simple, subtly complex and elegant watches like this one.
As a conclusion, a simple watch, but far from simple! Don’t hesitate to wear it daily!
Why did Françoise choose her?
It's no longer a secret: Françoise greatly appreciates the creations of Maison Piaget. Technique, know-how, drawing, history, so many elements that Françoise wishes to promote. Give Piaget watches all the interest they deserve. Although she would like to be able to wear the jewelry from the 1970s, cuffs, necklaces, etc., Françoise also likes more “simple” pieces like this one, easily wearable every day. Despite everything, it is Piaget: the shapes and materials are therefore ambassadors of a delicate elegance tinged with a subtle extravagance.
History
Between the end of the 1950s and the end of the 1970s, Piaget style reached its peak. A highly creative period where gold, the only material used for watches from 1957, and colors harmonized. The dial becomes the main element of creation, the one towards which all eyes must be directed. Thus, the hard stone imposes itself, letting vibrate its lively palette of colors, its shades, its reflections, its personality: lapis-lazuli, jade, tiger's eye, coral, turquoise, onyx, opal, etc. A palette of bright and nuanced colors. Watches with clean lines letting the color do the talking. Jewelery watches qualified as “haute-couture creations” ( Journal de Genève , April 15, 1970).
