Diamonds are for ever.
Description
The mere mention of “Piaget” evokes elegance, inventiveness and savoi-faire. The “jeweler of watchmaking” has proven himself and offered his own vision of watchmaking. This Protocole, designed for women, is an example.
Without copying the iconic Cartier Tank, Piaget dared to give its own vision of the rectangular watch but, this time, with cut sides, a probable evocation of the famous Place Vendôme. The uniqueness of the model lies, of course, in this magnificent diamond-paved dial. A sumptuous Protocole highlighted by its burgundy leather strap. And are there any rubies? At least, that's the impression given by the strap, which plays with the facets of the diamonds.
How to wear it?
If Françoise had to answer in complete subjectivity, she would say that the Piaget watch can be worn in all circumstances. Even if she admits that the extravagance of certain creations is not always compatible with everyday life, Françoise is tempted to break the codes by combining the preciousness of a watch with the sobriety of an outfit. Don't be intimidated by the Piaget signature.
A pavé dial is, by its very nature, more dressy, especially when the diamonds are combined with burgundy. A watch that will make the lights sparkle at a party. A watch that will embellish your wrist like a jewel. A watch that will be the centre of attention.
Why did Françoise choose it?
Piaget and Françoise: a great love story. Françoise loves Piaget and would like to help her regain the interest she deserves! If she would like to be able to wear the jewelry of the 1970s, incredible cuff watches, Françoise likes the Piaget with more contained dimensions, easier to wear. A subtle mix between discretion and extravagance.
Finally, Françoise is very attached to the art of jewelry, to precious, fine or ornamental stones. It was therefore impossible to miss this little jewel set with diamonds.
History
Between the end of the 1950s and the end of the 1970s, the Piaget style reached its peak. A highly creative period where gold, the only material used for watches from 1957, and colors harmonize. The dial becomes the main element of the creation, the one towards which all eyes should be drawn. Thus, the ornamental stone imposes itself, sometimes accompanied by precious stones like diamonds, letting vibrate its lively palette of colors, its nuances, its reflections, its personality: lapis lazuli, jade, tiger's eye, coral, turquoise, onyx , opal, etc. A palette of bright and nuanced colors. Watches with clean lines that let color speak for themselves. The Protocole model took off, and dials came in a multitude of variations - all gold, with ornamental stones, pavé, etc. Jewelry watches described as “haute-couture creations” ( Journal de Genève , April 15, 1970).
