4 dials for a single watch
Description
Piaget's reputation in watchmaking is well established. Referred to as the “jeweler of watchmaking”, Piaget embodies creativity and reliability. This watch, reference 9902, is a rather exceptional example. Only artisans from Piaget can show the extent of their art, with 4 dials in 1. The black depth of the onyx and the golden shimmer of the tiger's eye respond to the brilliance of the diamonds that frame them. A magnificent contrast of colors and materials.
The signed strap is also an integral element of the watch. These delicate gold attachments alternating with the leather echo the case lugs, like a continuity on the wrist, between curves and counter-curves. The yellow gold signed buckle perfectly completes the design of the watch.
How to wear it?
Even if Françoise admits that the extravagance of certain Piaget pieces is not always compatible with everyday wear, it is not possible to miss Piaget creations. This watch reminds us that the House was able to imagine simpler models, while keeping with a their signature subtle complexity.
With its quadripartite dial, diamonds, onyx and tiger's eye, this Piaget is certainly a dressier watch. The case and lugs accentuate this impression. However, it retains a small, more discreet format and a light leather strap. A definitely easy watch to wear !
And after all... in the 60s and 70s, Piaget got famous breaking traditional codes and innovating with its watchmaking designs: why not do the same in 2023?
Why did Françoise choose it?
First of all, because Françoise loves Piaget, and would like to help the brand regain the interest it deserves! If she would love to wear the extravagant pieces from the 1970s, Françoise particularly likes the simpler Piaget like this one. She loves the subtle blend of discretion and luxury.
After presenting models with all-onyx, tiger's eye, onyx and diamond dials, Françoise came across this marvel which brought together all these stones in a single dial. A watch that she had never seen before with a very beautiful articulated gold and leather strap.
History
Between the end of the 1950s and the end of the 1970s, Piaget style reached its peak. A highly creative period where gold, the only material used for watches from 1957, and colors harmonized. The dial becomes the main element of creation, the one towards which all eyes must be directed. Thus, the hard stone imposes itself, letting vibrate its lively palette of colors, its shades, its reflections, its personality: lapis-lazuli, jade, tiger's eye, coral, turquoise, onyx, opal, etc. A palette of bright and nuanced colors. Watches with clean lines letting the color do the talking. Jewelery watches qualified as “haute-couture creations” ( Journal de Genève , April 15, 1970).
