Who said that only Cartier could make Tanks?
Description
Piaget's reputation in watchmaking is second to none. Referred to as the “jeweller of watchmaking”, Piaget embodies creativity and reliability. Without copying the iconic Cartier Tank, Piaget dared to give its own vision of this shape. Shorter by a few millimeters than the Cartier of the same width, but also thinner, it corresponds perfectly to Piaget elegance. White gold completes the picture of subtle luxury.
The Onyx dial is perhaps the simplest of the hard stone dials with which Piaget played so much. From a distance, it is "just a black dial", and it is by approaching that we observe the full depth of the black of the onyx. This pitch black contrasts superbly with the diamond paving.
How to wear it?
Françoise adores Piaget, even if she admits that the extravagance of certain Piaget creations is not very compatible with everyday life. But you should not be intimidated by the Piaget signature, since the brand has also been able to create simple, subtly complex watches like this one!
In white gold but it's so easy to confuse white gold and steel... Onyx and diamond dial, okay, but if you don't pay attention, it's a black dial! In short, it's a simple watch from afar, but far from being simple! Don't hesitate to wear it every day!
Why did Françoise choose it ?
First of all, because Françoise loves Piaget, and would like to help the brand regain the interest it deserves! If she would love to wear the extravagant pieces from the 1970s, Françoise particularly likes the simpler Piaget like this one. She loves the subtle blend of discretion and luxury.
Finally, even if the comparison with the Tank Cartier is impossible as the latter is so iconic, Françoise wanted to offer a Tank that is not quite one.
History
Between the end of the 1950s and the end of the 1970s, Piaget style reached its peak. A highly creative period where gold, the only material used for watches from 1957, and colors harmonized. The dial becomes the main element of creation, the one towards which all eyes must be directed. Thus, the hard stone imposes itself, letting vibrate its lively palette of colors, its shades, its reflections, its personality: lapis-lazuli, jade, tiger's eye, coral, turquoise, onyx, opal, etc. A palette of bright and nuanced colors. Watches with clean lines letting the color do the talking. Jewelery watches qualified as “haute-couture creations” ( Journal de Genève , April 15, 1970).
