Description
Let's quickly move on from the obvious, to focus on the most striking part of this watch! OYSTER PERPETUAL. 2 words that sum up the whole philosophy of Rolex: Oyster for the case as waterproof as an oyster, and Perpetual for its automatic winding. An almost too classic Rolex, you might believe!
However, the depth of the blue dial makes this watch particularly interesting! Despite its small diameter, the deep blue dial catches the eye and gives pep to your wrist!
Why did Françoise choose it?
For 3 reasons:
1. The dial.
2. The dial.
3. For the excellent resistance ratio (notably water resistance) / vintage look of Rolexes from the 1990s.
Obviously the fact that the watch had its original papers convinced Françoise, even if the dial had already done the job.
History
The Oyster Perpetual is the starting point of the great Rolex saga. It is in fact the name of the first automatic and waterproof watch, released in 1931. This range will transform the name of Rolex, a young brand of the time, and establish it as the watchmaker of technical and sporting exploits. Since then, most Rolex watches bear the inscription Oyster Perpetual in addition to their “range” name (Submariner, Explorer, DateJust, etc.) to recall this original lineage. Going back to a simple “Oyster Perpetual” is going back to the origins.
