Description

The Disco Volante takes its name from the very particular design of its case. A round shape, an impressive finesse, a dial surrounded by concentric circles: these are the characteristic features of the Vacheron Constantin Disco Volante. Unusual lines that easily distinguish it from other more "classic" watches.

The elegance of the piece is accentuated by the purity of the dial where only the hours are indicated by baton indexes. According to the archive extract, the case as well as the signed pin buckle are in 18 carat red gold.

Thanks to its 34 mm diameter, this watch, initially designed for men, brings a lot of elegance and finesse to a woman's wrist.

For those in the know, this is the reference 6508. This Disco Volante is equipped with a hand-wound mechanical movement 568104, caliber 9''' - 1003.

The watch is accompanied by its extract from the archives of the Maison Vacheron Constantin requested in June 2024 and its pouch. The black alligator leather strap is signed.

Why did Françoise choose it?

Françoise loves iconic models that have left their mark on the history of watchmaking, especially with atypical designs like the Disco Volante. This model is even rarer because it is made of "red" gold and in such beautiful condition, accompanied by its archive extract.

A very beautiful watch on the wrist that will not go unnoticed. It is extremely comfortable on the wrist due to its finesse: the case sits delicately on the wrist. Its owner would almost forget about it if this Vacheron Constantin were not so beautiful.

History

Vacheron Constantin was founded in 1755 in Geneva by Jean-Marc Vacheron, an independent watchmaker. In 1819, Jacques-Barthélemy Vacheron, the founder's grandson, joined forces with François Constantin to create the new Maison Vacheron et Constantin. The first women's wristwatch was designed in 1889.

The design of the Disco Volante, born in 1953, is inherited from the Art Deco style of the 1930s. It takes up different influences from the world of art and watchmaking. It is said to have been developed for Audemars Piguet by designer Gérald Genta and the case manufacturer Eggly & Co.

Many variations of the Disco Volante have emerged and succeeded one another over the years. The work of the gold varies, as does that of the dial, more or less complex and refined.
